4-Way Stops Added to Village Streets

December 28, 2021 by Village of Covington

In 2021 the Village of Covington worked with a contractor to replace the majority of all infrastructure below High Street from Dodds Street to US36.  As part of this project portions of High Street were closed for extended periods of time.  These closures caused traffic patterns that were not wanted to occur on streets within the Village.  Whether it was speeding cars, lost truckers who could not follow the signs, or otherwise, there was a negative impact on many streets within the Village.

The Village Council, in preparation for the High Street Project, proactively worked with the Police Department to determine which streets would benefit from being made into 4-way stops.  After substantial discussion about many streets within the Village, the Council passed an Ordinance in December making six intersections now 4-way stops:

  1. Bridge Street / Pearl Street
  2. Thompson Street / Pearl Street
  3. Spring Street / Pearl Street
  4. Walnut Street / Pearl Street
  5. Bridge Street / Wall Street
  6. Main Street / Lindsay Street
